This serum was created with multi-tasking in mind. If you’re familiar with MooGoo you’ll know that we don’t like a lot of fuss, but we love ingredients that can talk the talk AND walk the walk. When we came across Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide, we knew we wanted to use them both, but we didn’t want to create a 10-step skin routine to get all the skin goodness we’re looking for. So instead of keeping these 2 headliners separate, we figured that 2 innovative ingredients are better than 1, but also having 1 serum to use is better than 2 – we like to keep it simple. We also aim to make all of our products suitable for as many people as we can, especially the sensitive types, which is why both Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide get extra bonus points for being kind and gentle to the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in the skin that helps keep it refreshed by retaining moisture. But just like everything else it seems, as we age our skin’s ability to hold onto moisture levels lessens, which causes it to become dry more easily, resulting in a loss of firmness and the creation of fine lines. Just great. Collagen is mainly made of water so keeping moisture around helps boost its production as well as improving skin elasticity and encouraging skin cell renewal. When applied, Hyaluronic Acid goes to work to pull moisture into the skin which helps keep everything else run smoothly. Drinking lots of water also helps too. Happy and hydrated skin has a plumper appearance that helps minimize the formation of fine lines and wrinkles and also improves overall skin texture. OK, so there is hope! Hydration isn’t the only thing Hyaluronic Acid is good for. It also has some antioxidant properties that we love to protect your skin from the free radical damage which leads to premature skin ageing. No thank you!
There are many kinds of Hyaluronic Acid available with varying molecular weights. A higher molecular weight has a hydrating effect resulting in long-lasting moisture. It also helps reduce water evaporation and protects the skin from external stressors like pollution. A lower molecular weight easily penetrates the skin to deeply deliver its soothing properties to calm skin and its plumping effects to help with wrinkle depth reduction. We use 2 different Hyaluronic Acids in our formula, one with a higher molecular weight, and one with a lower weight to give you the best of both worlds.
Niacinamide; where to begin. Firstly, it’s a form of Vitamin B3 and is best known for balancing your skin’s natural oil production. This helps reduce excess oils from building up and becoming rancid on the skin which can lead to breakouts. Nobody likes breakouts. It also helps to maintain and improve skin barrier function which helps keep moisture in and pollutants/irritants out; vital for good skin health. Of course, there’s more. Niacinamide is well tolerated by all skin types and is known to improve skin tone whilst reducing redness from breakouts and calming skin irritation. Sounds like there isn’t much Niacinamide can’t do, and the research keeps coming out to back it up, making it one of the most versatile and exciting skincare ingredients on the block. We love well-researched ingredients with a clinical track record and we also love seeing results, which is why we put enough of it in this serum to make a noticeable difference to your skin. You’d be surprised how uncommon that is.
