Bones & Joint
About Bone Health
Bone is a living tissue and plays a structural role in our bodies. It is constantly renewed throughout our lives, with older cells being repacked by new ones. Bone mass increases throughout growth until our early twenties, when peak bone mass is achieved.
From the age of around 40 years, bone loss exceeds bone formation and it gradually
decreases. This is why it is important to look after our bones as we get older, with a
number of nutrients playing a part in maintaining healthy bones and joints, in
particulate calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K.
